Farewell Barrel Strength

Selvin Ortiz / December 17, 2015

End of a Journey #

My journey at Barrel Strength began almost three years ago and what a ride it has been! On Tuesday, December 22, 2015 I will be saying farewell.

I’m very happy and proud to have been part of this culturally diverse and highly capable team.

A team of talented designers, developers, and professionals with a drive to help their clients in an efficient and affordable way.

Some of the highlights #

While working at Barrel Strength, I contributed to a lot of projects, helped improve our development and deployment workflows, and participated in coaching our junior developers.

I had the chance to work with clients all over the world, building small sites, large web applications, and developing strategies for content migration.

I was fortunate to lead the development of many commerce powered sites built on Expression Engine and Craft CMS as well as handcrafting Laravel based apps and command line driven automation tools.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve focused heavily on developing the Sprout Plugins, Straight Up Craft, The Great Migration and other related products and services.

Transitioning out of my role #

My role at Barrel Strength has been that of a Senior Web Developer and Technical lead with customer support sprinkled in between. While that role may not be filled in by a new hire immediately, I am very confident that the team I’m leaving behind, will continue the work that we’ve been doing and with the vision and leadership of Ben Parizek, they will thrive in my absence.

Thank you Ben and JP #

In addition to providing stable income for me and my family for almost three years, you gave me an opportunity to work with a team of talented people in an environment where family values are respected and personal time is protected. I learned so much about business and leadership from you two.

For that and more, I will be forever grateful!
